FC: "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson | to the Graduate
1: To our exceptional Son, Erik, As parents, we're compelled to do as much as possible for our kids when they're growing up. Your Mother and I have done our best. Now, as we reflect on your milestone, we're also measuring ourselves. And I think we've "done good" based on the person you've become. We’re very proud of you for the many, many accomplishments you’ve achieved in 18 years. You have shown respect for yourself, respect for others, love for the things important in life, and taken responsibility for your actions. You’ve overcome the early challenges with your speech and learning disabilities...there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. You’ve overcome the taunts, bullying and criticism that every kid faces...you’ve learned to be graceful and a real, nice guy. You clearly have a passion for the theater and performing, music and film. And finally, you are grateful for what you have and give of yourself willingly. As you start your new adventure, comes our advice --- Always continue learning. This doesn’t just mean institutional learning. But learn more of yourself, of others, and learn some “street smarts” that may serve you even better in your career and your future life. --- Live life to the fullest... make friends, fall in love, be happy, party, and enjoy yourself but not too hard. There’s a fine line between making new friends, enjoying life, and gaining new experiences, and clinging to the toilet with your shirt covered in puke at 3 a.m. Remember, if it’s easy, it’s sleazy. --- Do what you love and love what you do . Whatever you do, always try to be the best. Your work will be fun and satisfying, and the money will follow. Have fun, play hard, study hard, meet people, spend hours talking about life or love or hopes or films or whatever you want. But most importantly, be aware that you are in a position that 6 billion people around the globe would die to be in. Seize that opportunity and squeeze it ’til you shake out every last drop. We love you with all our hearts, Mom and Dad

56: Other things may change us, but we start and end with the family. ~Anthony Brandt
57: What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot
66: "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."
67: We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving. And we all have some power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing. - Louisa May Alcott
