By: Ayotunde Johnson 11/17/09 Mr. Haynie Civics Class
The Bus Ride | The bus ride was a lot of fun even though we were stuck on it for six hours. It was fun because you were with your friends and teachers and got to watch movies.
 Back To School!
Hirshhorn | One of my favorite places was the Modern Art Museum. The sculptures and pictures were very nice. One of My favorite "Perception and Reflection" by Anne Truitt. I also like "The Healer", which was by Rene Magritte. I thought the modern art there was really inspiring.

Another nice place we went to was the capitol building. It was very nice inside especially all the statues from different states. My favorite room was the Rotunda. It had art work all over the walls painted by three men. The art work painted were important parts in American history.
We also went to the Iwo Jima memorial.Iwo Jima is located in Japan. The memorial was the American Soldiers putting up the American flag up. Iwo Jima is a tribute to the Marine Corps. The battle of Iwo Jima took place in Japan in 1945.
We also visited the White House. It was very pretty and the garden in front was beautiful. Although George Washington was the first president he wasn't the first one to live in the White House. In 1800 when the White house was almost completed John and Abigail Adams were the first president to live there. President Obama currently lives there.
Friends in front of the White house
We also went to the Korean War Memorial. It was really nice there because of the wall with the pictures and the Soldiers walking through the rice patties of Asia. The Korean War started in June 25th 1950 and ended July 27th 1953
The Korean war was fought against North Korea along with the Chinese about half way in the war against The United Nations and South Korea to fight against communism. North Korea are still separated.
We also went to the Washington Monument. It was really tall and reflected nicely in the Reflecting Pool. I also went to where Martin Luther King Jr had his " I have a Dream Speech." The Washington Monument was built between 1775- 1783. It was built to tribute George Washington and his bravery in the American Revolution
The Trip Home was fun but i miss D.C I hope i can go there again. The trip home was also long and tiring but it was great to be home!
