FC: "Pestilence" 2012-2013 | Molly Harding | Evaluation - Question 1
1: In what ways does your media product develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product? | Compare and Contrast - "The Seventh Seal" 1957
2: Developing and Challenging Conventions
3: "The Seventh Seal" Music & Sound Ambient sound, we developed this by using new technology to create a new soundtrack and find sound effects. Titles White on black - we decided to continue with this idea as white titles on black are also used in "Nosferatu" but as these are both older and black and white films we chose to use white titles over out montage. Similarities Use of Montage - We decided to use a montage in our opening to communicate the notion of complete desolation and emptiness. Animals on the beach - I liked the clip of the horses on the beach so we developed this and decided to show a dog scavenging on a beach so we took the genre convention on board and adapted them for our film. Differences Quote - We thought as we had a low budget we should include a quote to give the audience clues as to what was happening. Camper Van Scene - There is usually a base in future dystopia, post-apocalyptic films, so we took this on board and decided to included the van it had enough character to almost be seen as another character as well as a base, this is an example of us recognizing and developing forms and conventions of our chosen genre,

7: "The Road" | Convention - Varied settings, forest to give sense of emptiness and eerie atmosphere. | Development - In this shot there is a purpose to the long road and the character has a medical mask on to give clues to the desolation.
