S: Fun at the Zoo!
FC: Fun At the Zoo! by Cathy Welch Greene LIS 120 Final Project Focus Audience- Kindergarten
The zoo is a great place to go to learn about animals from all over the world. You can see, hear, smell and even touch some of the animals!
Gorillas and apes are some of the favorite animals at the zoo. They seem to enjoy watching the people looking at them!
You may see baby animals with their mother or with a zoo-keeper. They need special love and care to grow just like you.
Watch out for the lions. You might hear a loud ROAR!
Beau- tiful tigers are at the zoo, too.
The giraffes with their long, skinny necks can reach up very high in the trees to find leaves to eat.
STOMP, STOMP, STOMP, the huge elephants go passing by!
Let's see the bears next! Their soft, thick fur keeps them warm in cold weather.
WOW! Look out for the rhinoceros and hippopotamus. They are gigantic and weigh tons!
Have you ever seen a buffalo, tapir or babirusa before? You may at the zoo!
Be careful! The red river hog and the elk have sharp antlers.
The red wolf and Arctic fox may appear to be dogs, but they are really wild animals.
You may squeal with delight at the cute turtles or otters.
Slither, slither! Many zoos have a collection of snakes, too.
Tweet, Tweet! A colorful bird may sing you a pretty tune in the bird sanctuary.
At the zoo, you may be able to see some animals up close and even touch a few.
Animals are an important part of the zoo; however, they are not everything. Plants such as trees, bushes and flowers provide a pleasant setting for the animals and visitors.
Most zoos have an exciting playground. Are you ready to climb the spider's web?
Some zoos have a train or merry-go-round. All aboard!
Picnic tables, grassy spots and concession stands are available when you are hungry or thirsty.
The zoo is a fun place to visit- by computer, in-person or through a book!
