1: George Washington was inaugurated on April 30, 1789 in New York City.
2: The ceremony took place on the balcony of Federal Hall in New York City. New York City was then the first Capitol and the first site where the 1st United States Congress met.
3: John Adams was sworn in as the first Vice President
4: On April 14, George Washington left Mt. Vernon his home at 1pm. He traveled through the Virginia to present day Washington DC.
5: He traveled to Grey's Ferry, Philadelphia. Where he took a boat to Trenton, New Jersey.
6: The next day George Washington took a boat to Wall Street in New York City There is a statue of him there today.
7: George Washington became the first president of the United States that day.
