4: George served on board several Steam Ships throughout WW2 as a ships engineer, most were ferries used as troop carriers but he also completed some convoys. Canada, South Africa and China
6: The Steam Ship Sandown Castle put in to Belfast before making the journey across the Atlantic to Halifax Nova Scotia. He met Elleanor Mahon at a dance, later he came back to marry her and took her to his hometown in Kent.

18: After the war George took up employment at The Railway Works in Ashford Kent. The ferries that he served on during the war were owned and run by Southern Rail so he continued in their employ until his retirement.
