There are 5 kinds of jobs on Areful. People are allowed to choose from them but they must start working at age 18. They can choose their own hours as long as they work at least seven hours a day. However, there are many subsections to these jobs so the people are not limited to the broad topic. Read about the jobs.
The island Areful was found just a few years ago, after a strong hurricane hit Jamaica. People on Areful had discovered, of all things, a washed up street sign. Although it might have just been swept off Jamaica's coast, people thought it was a sign of something good. But the strangest thing was that the street sign didn't say "careful" or "stop" or "yield." No, it said something very different. The sign had the word "areful" on it, and the people decided to name their island after it.
This is just a legend, but a street sign is kept on the edge closest to Jamaica for good measure. Of course, there has been some proof that this story might be real after three people (Meirav, Karl, and Miona) found traces of a letter "c" on the sign. If you look carefully, you might see it too.
Food and Water Workforce: One section works to grow and raise the food on the many farms. Another section works gather and purify the water from Lake Areful. And the third sections delivers the food and water to the people's homes.
Fishing is also very important on Areful, as we are an island utopia.
This is a part of Lake Areful, the place where this workforce gathers fresh water from before purifying it.
Building Workforce: The first working group gets to grow and manage the bamboo forests populating the island. The next group focuses on building structures from houses to schools.
Most houses are built right on the beach, like this top one. Other homes are built closer to Lake Areful and are more in the jungle. The one at the bottom right corner has a nice view of the lake and Mount Cey.
Education: There are 3 different types of schools here. You can either teach daycares (above), grade schools (right page) or a college. For this workforce you would have had to gone to college.
Another workforce is Health. For this you also need a college education. This workforce works hand in hand with the Food and Water one, since the Food subsection harvests herbs needed for tea and medicine.
Trades: The final workforce is trades. These people work at building cars, bikes, scooters, furniture, and other crafts, all made out of renewable materials like bamboo and coconut shells. The second subsection requires you to work the solar panels and water mills.
