S: Kitty Wells

1: Kitty Wells was born on August 30, 1919 in Nashville Tennessee. | She was born Ellen Muriel Deason.

2: Kitty and her sisters, Mae and Jewel created a group called "The Deason Sisters." They appeared on Nashville's early morning radio shows in 1936. | She learned to play the guitar when she was 14. | She sang all through her childhood.

3: She married Johnny Wright in 1937- she was only 18! | Kitty and Johnny have three children, Sue, Ruby, and Bobby.

4: In 1943, Johnny gave her her stage name, Kitty Wells. He got the name from an old folk song called "Sweet Kitty Wells." | Kitty and Johnny made many appearances on radio stations.

5: Johnny is also a Country Music legend. He was part of a famous duo called Johnny and Jack. Jack was married to Kitty's sister.

6: In 1947, Kitty had her first recoding session. She recorded gospel songs for RCA records. | How far is heaven" | Gathering Flowers for the Master's Bouquet

7: By 1950, Kitty wanted to settle down and retire from the music business. | Then, Decca records asked Kitty to record a song called "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." | She originally did it for the money the recording session would give her, but the song was an instant hit!!

8: "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" was a millions seller! | Her duet with Red Foley,"One By One" remained on the charts for almost a year. | In 1959, Kitty signed a "Lifetime" contract with Decca Records. | She stayed with Decca Records until she released an album with Capricorn Records. | At age 60, Kitty had her last top ten single called "Thank You For The Roses."

9: In 1979, Kitty and Johnny created their own Record label. It was called Ruboca Records. | The name "Ruboca" comes from the first two letters in their kids names!! | Ruby Bobby Sue

10: Kitty and Johnny had their own family television show in the late sixties and early seventies which featured Kitty, Johnny, Bobby, Ruby and Sue, and lifelong friend Bill Phillips.

11: Kitty and Johnny's kids were very successful also!! | Ruby and Sue recorded for the Cadence Record label as "The Wright Sisters." | Bobby recorded for several recording companies and was a famous actor! | Ruby was also a part of the "Nita, Rita, and Ruby trio.

12: Johnny died in September of 2011. | Ruby died in September 27, 2009.
