BC: Her adventures will always be remembered in her great books.


1: * Laura Ingalls was born February7, 1867 in Lake Pepin, Wisconsin and was the second of four children. * Her full name was Laura Elizabeth Ingalls.

2: * | * She had a brother, Charles Jr.(nicknamed Freddie),Who died at the age of nine months. * Her sisters, who were all included in her books were Mary, Carrie, and Grace.

3: * Her mother, Caroline Lake Quiner was educated, gentle, and proud. * Her father, Charles Philip Ingalls was a jolly and sometimes reckless man.

4: *As a little girl, Laura moved with her family from place to place across America's heartland. *In 1874, The Ingalls family moved from Wisconsin to Walnut Grove, Minnesota, where they lived in their first dugout house.

5: * Laura attended school as regularly as possible,but since she moved so much, she didn't always have time. * In 1882, at the age of fifteen, she received her teaching certificate, and taught for the next three years.

6: * In 1885, Laura Ingalls met Almanzo Manly Wilder. * Almanzo Manly Wilder and Laura Elizabeth Ingalls married on August 25, 1885.

7: Rose Wilder | *The couples only surviving child, Rose, was born December 5, 1886. * In August, 1889, Laura had a baby boy who died shortly after birth.

8: * Over the years, people came to love Laura's " Little House" books. * Little house In the Big Woods and Farmer Boy be came big hits.

9: *Laura wrote children books based on her own youth in the American Midwest. \ * Two years later, Little house on the prairie, showed up on the shelves of book stores.

10: *Five more books came along following Ingall's and Wilder's marriage. *Those books include, On the Banks of plum Creek, By the shores of Silver Lake, The long Winter, and These happy Golden years.

12: * Almanzo Wilder died on their farm at the age of ninety two. * Laura was ninety and still lived on the land Almanzo owned when she died on February 10, 1957.

13: After Laura died, Rose Wilder Lane, her daughter, edited the diary her mother had which resulted in the book, On The Way Home: The diary of a Trip from South Dakota to Mansfield, Missouri, in 1844, was published.

14: * Little House in the Big Woods *On the Banks of Plum Creek *Farmer Boy *The Long Winter | *Little house on the Prairie *The next Four Years

15: * In the book, On the banks of Plum Creek, Laura and her family move to Walnut Grove, Minnesota | * This is where they lived in their first dugout house.

16: *Laura loved to run around and get into trouble at their new home.

17: * Ma and Pa left, so Laura, Mary,and their dog Jack had to stay home alone and during that time they had to chase the cattle away from their hay.

18: Laura and Mary threw a party that did not go so well because of a girl named Nellie, an old crab, and some leeches.
