FC: Louis | "Satchmo" | Armstrong | In the Roaring 20s & 30s
1: Louis Armstrong was a very interesting man! | Lo | He played in clubs like this. | Not only did he overcome poverty he was one of the best musicians ever. Louis as a kid "hustled" for money, his family was never around raised by his grandmother and mother. His mother had worked many jobs to keep ends meat, and his father was a factory worker and had left the family and Louis at an early age. Louis had dropped out of school at the age 11. Being out in the streets of New Orleans was not a good idea, but Louis had to take the take the consequence of hanging out in the streets. On new years eve he had fired a gun in a club and was sent to reform school at the age of 14.
2: Later on in his life he moved on to the City Chicago and performed in many bands. Also being black back then was a scary thing. That was maybe one of the reasons he had moved from New Orleans. When he moved to Chicago thats when he started to become popular playing in bands and in clubs, later on in his career he earned the name Satchmo.
3: He got so popular that he had his own bands.
4: Louis later on in his life had many incredible songs, he had moved to queens New York and not only played the trumpet he also had sang. For instance he had wrote many great songs like "What a Wonderful World" and "Hello Dolly" near the end of his career. Louis had died of a heart failure on July 6th 1971 in his bedroom in Queens New York.
