FC: Mark Twain and His Life | By: Sandra Sifuentes 040209 Period 1
1: Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri and was the sixth child in a family of nine. Later Mark moved to Hannibal, Missouri and at that time his dad owned one slave and his uncle owned several. At the age of 11 his father died and shortly after he left school completing the fifth grade to work as a printer’s apprentice for a newspaper.
2: At the age of 18 Sam(Mark Twain) went to New York and found that he was very skilled in writing articles, but soon he moved back to his home town and became a riverboat Pilot. This then came to a halt and so did Sam’s carrier. He then joined the Marion Rangers, but he quit after two weeks. | I QUIT!!!
3: Mark Twain was in search of a new career, he was invited by his brother, Orion, who was the secretary of the Nevada Territory. While traveling to Nevada he met some Native American tribes and unique people. These events weaved into some short stories and books.
4: While he traveled through out the country, he worked for several newspapers and then came his big break. His first short story was in spreading across and was called Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog and after he signed up for a cruise. His letters to relatives where filled with vivid words and descriptions that they made his first book called The Innocents Abroad and then Married a woman who was called Olivia(Livy) and had a baby called Langdon Clemens. A couple of years later he had three daughters but his son died from a horrible disease and in 1903 he became ill and died a year later.
