3: Master Chief Petty Officer Burrhus enlisted in the Navy in October 1983 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Center, San Diego, California. After graduating from Fire Control Technician "A" and "C" schools, he reported to the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan for his first duty assignment. His next assignment was the USS KISKA (AE 35) homeported in Concord, California. In October 1989 he was honorably discharged from the Navy. In September 1990, he returned to active duty and attended the AN/SPS-48E "C" school at Combat Systems Technical Schools Command (CSTSC) Mare Island California. He then reported to the USS ARKANSAS (CGN 41) homeported in Alameda, California. He next served as Branch Head for the AN/SPS-48E and AN/SPS-53C 3-Dimensional Air Search Radars at CSTSC, Mare Island. In July 1995, he transferred to FTC, San Diego to attend the MK-86 "C" school and then reported to the USS FLETCHER (DD 992) homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Gunnery Division. In March 1999 he reported to Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific, Pearl Harbor where he was the Underway Combat Systems/Seamanship Division Officer and Training Liaison Officer. He next served in USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) homeported in San Diego as the Combat

4: Systems Leading Chief Petty Officer and filled in as acting CMC. After his selection to the Command Master Chief Program, he attended the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy,Class 107 graduating in July 2003. In August 2003, he reported as the Command Master Chief for the USS DULUTH (LPD 6) homeported in San Diego, which he decommissioned. His other CMC tours include PCD GREEN BAY, USS BOXER (LHD 4) and NAVCENT FWD HQ Bagram Airfield Afghanistan. He reported to CHSCWP April 2011. His Personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (four awards), Good Conduct (seven awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Master Training Specialist, Afloat Training Specialist, as well as various unit and campaign awards.
