BC: The End
FC: The Classic Mixbook Made by Michael Doyle hour 6 | Rule of the Bone By Russel Banks lexile:1530 390 pages
This book is an exciting adventure about a 14 year old boy who has been kicked out of his house. He was living with a group of bikers who were going to kill him but in the knick of time bammm, fire he escapes but not before running into a creepy guy named Buster Brown who is most likely is a pedophile who bought a little sex slave of a girl named Rose who he named Froggy. Before this happens he goes and breaks into a huge house that him and Russ totally trashed. Later he bumps into Buster again and takes his money and saves Froggy. Lucky he knows somewhere they can stay only its not the same as it was. A new character named Iman is Jamaican and takes care of Rose and Chappie so for a while they live in peace.
Chappie finally finds Rose's home. After awhile of living with Iman, Chappie gets homesick and goes home only to realize his life would suck so much more if he stayed home with Ken his step dad molesting him and his mom siding with Ken not knowing everything. He goes back to his now surrogate father Iman and goes to Jamaica not realizing at the time why he decided to go…he heard his dad was down there. So hes down in Jamaica smoking the best ganja he ever has and finds his dad cool dude but still a sleeze ball when he finally finds him self and leaves the island.
Froggy is an inspirational charcter that touched the hearts of millions. her story begins with Buster, a creepy middle aged man that with a long time of reading you suspect that he is a pedophile. we do know however he kept her on drugs, she escapes though with Chappie and really comes into her own we discover that her real name is Rose and shes from Milwaukee. evntually Chappie sends her home.
Froggy is actually a big part of the story. It allowed Chappie to really develop not only as a charcter but also as a responsible adult. He finds himself in the deepest way and reflects on how horrible his parents were to him and how he can make others lives better Insert text here
Froggy reminds me of Dakota Fanning in many respects such as her looks. If Hollywood made a movie of the book i would definatley expect Dakota to be Froggy, but also shes not a kid that has been neglected sold or drugged up. She very well reminds me of Kaylee Anthony a girl that might have struggled through all of these things but wasnt as fortunate as Froggy was.
She wouldnt know all the times he said he'd cut off my dick if i told and no one'd believe me anyhow | because everyone knew that whatever happened was my own fault because i was the one who sucked the c***k | One step beyond all the times he hit me and came into my room to apolagize and lay down by me on my bed and ended up jerking off next to me.
This quote although how it seemes far fetched it really starts putting the book together it shows how horrible his life really is why he had to get out of there .
Rule of the Bone first apealed to me because of the drug motif but drugs are really about 25% of the book, its a great book mainly because its a believable story that could very well happened to any kid in this situation. teenagers should definitley read this book many kids dont know how good they have it and how bad others do. i give this book a 9 only because the ending wasnt the best.
