FC: History of WWI

1: The Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo. Ferdinand was assassinated by a man named Gavrilo Princip. He is thought to be a member of the black hand. | Assassination

2: The date is April 6th, 1917 and the U.S has officially entered the war against Germany. The U.S is in the Alliance called the Central Powers. This alliance consists of U.S,United Kingdom, France, Russia, Serbia. | U.S. Enters War

5: The Russian Revolution | The Russian Revolution was a series of revolutions in Russia starting on February 23, 1917. That Revolution was called the February Revolution. It was all started by what is called bloody Sunday which sparked a series of protests in Russia.

6: The Bloodiest Battle of World War I started on July 1st and lasted until November 18th 1916. It was called Battle of The Somme. it was fought near the Somme River in France. The most troops died in this battle than any other. whats interesting is nobody really won this battle.

8: Machine Gun

9: The machine gun played a big role in the battles of WWI. Although the machine gun took 4-6 people to operate, it could now take out a whole group of advancing soldiers. This weapon was first used in the Battle of The Somme in 1916. By the end of the war, all countries had used the machine gun in battle.

10: Trench very warfare is the fighting tactic used to fight in WWI. Life in the trench was not highly valued. the conditions were very unsanitary.Each day, the men would have a different job to clean the trench. Down time in the trench was used for rest and writing letters. Many people died in the trenches everyday.

13: The Treaty of Versailles was the document that ended WWI. The document was signed on June 28, 1919. It was created in The Hall of Mirrors in France. Germany lost their colonies due to this document. This document had over 200 pages of harsh provisions. | The Treaty Of Versailles
