FC: Memoirs of War

Memoirs of War By Ellie Nahls

An embrace and he left ; I stood there all alone . As the train disappeared , The tears fell down my face . Us parting broke my heart ; I struggled every day . Trying to keep the hope , I prayed each single night . Finally the day came ; My hero would come home again . And I waited to be , Reunited again . | Last Goodbye

One by one they stepped out , Their faces were revealed , Followed by a casket , That awakened my fears . I collapsed to the ground And the tears stung my eyes . I could not believe it , My brave hero was gone . Now that he has parted , I am left broken hearted .

The Truth About War Waiting in a row , ready to go , Little did we know, what was to follow was like a gallow But we all charged on until we were gone. . The airplanes fly in the flashing sky. The gun shots echo deep in the meadow And I am shot on the spot . I land in the mud leaving a red flood . Laying there breathless , the pain is endless , And I cry for fear I will die .

Bodies cover the ground and some will never be found . So many lost at one cost . Now we know , the truth of war is much more . The bagpipe blows in sorrows , All that is left is a cross for every loss . What did we truly gain ? Just more pain .

 Brave Fighters

Acres upon acres, Rows upon rows, White wooden crosses Replace the lives of the brave fighters. Men upon men, Souls upon souls, Lifted up to heaven. Disappears someone's hero. Fields upon Fields, filled with red. Once the color of death, Now the color of remembrance for all loved ones lost. Still today, One memory is left... The image of a great man As the red poppies grow.

The Flashing skies, The deafening sounds, Beneath the ground shakes, Another brother falls. The bullets fly through the haze, One by one the men fall. One step forward, two lives lost. Memories I can never escape. Bombs away! Soldiers go flying. Bloodcurdling screams fill the air, A nightmare that I can not flee. Horrors I can never escape.

The air turns to poison, Burning inside me. One's last breath And I am left in the darkness.
