ORDINARY WORLD In the beginning of this movie Dale Denton's normal life is him being a process server, smoking pot every hour, and having an 18 year old girlfriend that he visits occasionally at her high school.
Call To Adventure: This starts when Dale is on a serving mission. When he finds his client to serve he witnesses a murder by the man. He now has to run away because the cops were involved in this murder and they are after him. They find out who he is by looking at the pot he threw out the window which was a very rare kind called Pineapple Express and could easily be traced back to his drug dealer, Saul, which is where Dale is going to.
Refusal to the Call Dale runs away with Saul into the woods where they stay for the night, just to wake up to the car being dead.
Meeting with the Mentor | Dale meets his mentor early in the movie, but he is just his drug dealer until Dale witnesses the murder.
Crossing the First Threshold The first thing they have to cross is Red. They go to his house just to find out he is working for Ted. Red attacks them, but two against one are bad odds for Red and he is eventually knocked out, thrown head first into a wall, and duck taped down to his grandfathers wheelchair.
Tests, Allies, and Enemies Dale is put through many tests. He got arrested, but escaped because Saul stole the cop car. He almost got shot meeting his girlfriend’s parents the first time, and then he got attacked by Red. Some allies he picks up along the way are Angie (his girlfriend), and Red (who later becomes a helpful ally. Some enemies are Ted, Matheson and Budlosgsky (Teds workers), Carol (police that works for Ted), and Angies parents.
This takes place once Red becomes an ally with Dale because they set aside their differences to try and save Saul. Inside of Red's home is a stockpile of weapons that Dale and Red load up with to go assault Ted's hideout where Saul is being held. | Approach to the Inmost Cave
When Dale goes into Ted's building his plans quickly fall apart, he is captured, and all of his weapons are taken from him to leave him feeling helpless. He is then taken and placed in the same room as Saul who he is unable to free now. He then feels like he has failed Saul. | Ordeal/Death Experience
This takes place when Dale picks himself back up and gets his confidence back. Dale and Saul then work together to try and escape from the room together so they do not get killed by Ted or his men. | Reward
Dale and Saul get out of the room they were held captive in and have to shoot their way out of the hideout before a bomb goes off set by Ted's other enemies, the Asian drug dealers. Who came to destroy his hideout. Along the way they have many close to death experiences and run out of ammo a few times, but luckily find more just laying around. | The Road Back
This takes place when Dale is carrying an unconscious Saul and is almost caught in the explosion of Ted's underground hideout caused by the bomb set off by the leader of the Asian drug dealers. They both make it out safely and Saul shortly comes back awake. Red is also seen to have survived the blast, so they are all back together again. | Resurrection
Dale returns with both Saul and Red after their long day and night and they all go out to eat for breakfast before going to the hospital for Red. | Return with Elixir
