4: Preceding the Marco Polo bridge incident, Battle of Shanghai occured when the Japanese proceeded for the invasion of Northern China. With the futile attempt of the Chinese resistance they were able to with hold Japanese movement towards eastern China. Although by November 1937, Shanghai fell into Japan's captivity.
