1: November 29, 1864 | -650-750 Colorado Volunteers -150 Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians -It was the Cheyenne Indians and some neighboring tribes, that were attacked by the Union army. -It started at dawn and got over at four, a total of seven hours. -Chivington and Evens had gotten some volunteers together, they called themselves the "Hundred Dazers." | Also known as the Civington Massacre.

3: The white flag a sign of peace or a bog bullseye? | “Knowing that the Indians had surrendered, Chivington led his 700 troops, many of them drinking heavily, to Sand Creek and positioned them, along with their four howitzers, around the Indian village. The ever trusting Black Kettle raised both an American and a white flag of peace over his tepee” (Wiser 1).

4: An interpreter living in the village testified, "THEY WERE SCALPED, THEIR BRAINS KNOCKED OUT; THE MEN USED THEIR KNIVES, RIPPED OPEN WOMEN, CLUBBED LITTLE CHILDREN, KNOCKED THEM IN THE HEAD WITH THEIR RIFLE BUTTS, BEAT THEIR BRAINS OUT, MUTILATED THEIR BODIES IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD." (http://www.lastoftheindependents.com/sandcreek.htm). | After.... One guy named Silas Soule, a Massachusetts abolitionist, did not allow the men to fire into the crowd. Silas Soule, testified against Chivington. Later he was killed by Charles W. Squires. Charles said he was told by Chivington, to murder Silas Soule. Black Kettle’s wife was shot 7 times and still lived.

5: Colorado was a hot spot in the 1840's it, because it had a lot of gold and silver This is why they wanted the Indian land.

6: When they were attacking -Most of them were drunk. -When they arrived back at their home town, they all rejoiced and bragged about all the Indians they killed.

8: The Sand Creek angered many people, but it made the people in the Colorado territory very happy. Chivington visited a Denver and showed all of his 100 Indian scapls, and other hair and heads from the Sand Creek Massacre, or other run ins he had with the Cheyeene.
