Slave Trade - Page Text Content

1: Slavery started out as simple punishment for a crime. But then as Europeans started colonizing the Americas there started to be a demand for slaves. Men, women, and children were kidnapped by slave traders out of the blue.

2: Slaves where packed like sardines in a can on slave ships. Inside the conditions were unbearable. Sweat and human waste of all kinds all around causing a smell that actually killed.

3: If a slave were to survive the crossing they were met with hard labor and long hours of work on plantations. Beatings were issued if slaves refused to work. No care was taken of the well being of slaves. As long as they worked and the plantation made money is all that mattered.
