1: during the nigh of june 5-6 we have herd the planes fly over bombing the germand on the beach and the fire of cannons from our gun boats. were getting close now u can see the germans packing up thier equiptment into thier trucks and running away.

2: July 1944, In the first days of July, 1944, the first Echelon of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) left to Europe, aboard the American ship General Mann, in a total of 5.081 men. Later, on the 22 July, two more ships, Gen Mann and Gen Meigs, left to Europe, with the Second and Third Echelons, with 10.369 men total.

3: On 2 September our planes took off from Middleburg to try to get through to Davao once more. This time the weather was favorable and the squadron reached the target. Despite expectations (justified by the importance of this base to the enemy) the resistance met was slight. No enemy planes rose to intercept and the anti-aircraft fire was slight and inaccurate.

4: On September 7 and 8, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division's 5th Brigade captured Bourbourg, southwest of Dunkirk, and then worked to contain the Dunkirk garrison. The Germans had an estimated 10,000 troops in Dunkirk, with outposts in the villages of Mardick, Loon-Plage, Spyker, Bergues and Bray Dunes. Loon-Plage and nearby Coppenaxfort were liberated on September 9; Mardick was taken on September 17.

5: we are now on our most important mission since nomady. our troops must win this battle over the scheltd river in order to capter the port. the allies already have antwerp, but it is still 50 miles from see, and all that area is controlled by the Krauts. ill write u again once we reach antwerp.

6: Dear Mother Sorry this isn't the best paper, its all i could get. its quite rough out hear weather has been terrible the last couple of days. I and my platoon have beenn marching for days. Were on our way to antwerp. i miss you all lots hows my little brother? cant wait to see him again. put a good word in for me and incase the worst...... tell him i love him. and thats all for now take care. love your son; Private Skyler

7: october 30th. it was a long and hard faught battle over the schelt river but we made it to antwerp, were getting ready to rest we have a long day of travel tomorow.
