FC: The Giver Project

Jonas is a twelve year old boy. He lived in a community with his parents. Jonas lived in a perfect world, so they said. The kids in this (perfect world) still had to go to school. When Jonas was 11 he had to bath the old. Now that he 12 he does not have to do that anymore. At that ceremony of twelve he got his assignment. Jonas got the assignment Receiver of Memory. After he got his assignment his life changed drastically. He was allowed to lie he did not have to take his pills. He got trained by the Giver and learned many things. Baby Gabriel is in danger. He was going to get released. Jonas does not like the new community. Jonas talked to the Giver and decided to run away. The danger of running away is getting caught, cold, hungry, getting hurt or no more memories. He saw lights and heard music, he thought he was safe.

Bathing the Old When Jonas was 11 he had to bathe the old. He went to the house of old do bathe them. Jonas starts the water in the tub. He makes sure to keep the water warm for the old. Jonas used a sponge to bath them. Now that Jonas is 12 he does not have to do that anymore. In our world we bath ourselves. We don't get someone to bathe us. If I had to bath an old person I would be so embarrassed. The only people that don't bathe themselves are babies. The house of old was filled with moist warm air and a sent of cleansing lotions.

Jonas turned 12. He started to get a crush on Fiona. The people called the emotions stirrings. He started to take pills so he did not feel emotion toward Fiona. Toward the end of the book he stopped taken the pills, because he did not like hoe the community was anymore. If I had to take pills so I would not feel love I don't know what I would do. I mean, that means that you would not get married or be able to have your own kids. you would have to just get random kids. | Stirrings

The assignments | Jonas was at the Annex when he was getting his assignment (job). He had no idea what kind of job he was going to get. Jonas was so anxious to know what job he was going to get. When the people got up on the stage the announced the assignments for the twelves. Jonas was next. He was worried that he would get a job that he would not like. They called his name, and told him what his job would be. The job was the receiver of memory. He had no idea that he was going to get that kind of job. Jonas did not even know what the receiver of memory did or what it was.

I think that color has affected the community. Here are some reasons why I think this. MY first reason is that in their world they don't know what color is, so how are they to know what it is like to have color. Their world to me would be so boring. I mean no color no choice, what do they have. Color is what makes the world more interesting. Without color it is just a place that you live in. | Color

Euthanasia | In the book they said that when they release you that you have to get a needle. Not just a needle in your arm a needle in your forehead. I thought that since it is a so called perfect world they would not do something like that. If anything I thought that they would just force them out of the community. If a baby was born even 1 pound lighter than it was supposed to be it would be released or if someone was to old they would also have to get released.

Pros and Cons | In Jonas' world some pros are that where he lives it is very safe because there are no robbers. Another reason is that you would not need money, because they supply the food and clothing. Some cons are that they decide when you have to die. They use a needle to kill you. They put the needle in your forehead. The people at the community tell you what your job is. You are not allowed to dream. You have to tell your family about your feeling every day. They make you take pills so you don't have feeling for other people. You do not get to pick your own clothes. That is what I think the pros and cons are of The Giver.
