FC: The Great Depression
The causes of the Great Depression was the stock market crash of 1929, bank failures, reduction in purchasing across the board, American economic policy with Europe, and drought conditions.
The Great Depression started in 1929 and lasted till 1939. That is 10 years!
People who lived during the Great Depression didn't have a lot of money. A lot of people didn't have much money. They lived in anything that could keep them sheltered from the wind, rain, and weather. Food was scarce and a lot of people didn't have jobs. People worried about when their next meal would be and what it would be. Sometimes they had to just use fires for meals, instead of for warmth.
Everyone was affected by the Great Depression. No matter what class they were in, they still suffered. Some might have suffered more than others though. People in lower classes would suffer more because they wouldn't be able to get the food they needed. People who weren't white suffered greatly to. They were discriminated because of there color and most people would not hire them.
The Great Depression ended by the help of the New Deals and World War II. The New Deals helped things get easier. World War II also helped with the Great Depression. They now had something to do and to help people stay busy, as they fought in the war.
