1: Charm Bracelet: An important item Susie was wearing when she died. Monopoly Pieces: Susie's family had kept her death from her younger brother for a while. When Susie's dad was explaining death to Buckley, he used monopoly pieces to represent their family. When he took Susie's piece away, Buckley finally understood what had happened to his sister. Quote: What was supposed to be the quote in Susie's yearbook, which she liked because it sounded literary and expressed her distaste for ordered society.
3: Susie's Heaven Dogs: Susie loved dogs, and they greatly inhabited her heaven Swing Set: Outside the high school in Susie's heaven, there was a playground with her favorite kind of swings. Duplex: Susie's dream home, which she lives in with her friend Holly Gazebo: Where Susie goes to watch people on Earth.
5: Susie's Family Garden: A hobby of Buckley's as he grew up. He turned his mother's run down garden into something beautiful. Chocolate Macaroons: The treats Susie's mom hid from her family. One of the many things she kept from them. Notebook: Where Susie's father kept his suspicions about Mr. Harvey, and a way to talk to Susie. Necklace: A gift to Lindsey, Susie's little sister, from Samuel closely after Susie's death.
7: Mr. Harvey: Susie's Killer Dagger: The weapon he used to kill her. Doll house: He built doll houses for a living. Cornfield: Where he killed Susie, as she was walking home from school. Bride: He told people he was a widower, and used the name of his last victim as his wife.
8: Dear Susie, I haven't been able to tell you how I really feel yet. But I want you to know how much I love you. I think you are the greatest person I've ever met, and you are so beautiful. I was trying to tell you this when were in the auditorium, but I was too nervous. I hope you return the feelings, but I want you to be happy no matter what. I want to be the one to provide this happiness. I just hope I'm not too late. Love, The Moor
9: Ray Signh: Susie's Love Love Note: He wrote it for Susie on the day that she died. Doctor: His ambitions, and profession. Also a way to set himself apart from his father, who was a doctor but not the medical kind. Candles: Him and Ruth always shared a love of Susie, and often memorialized her. Though they also enjoyed each other's company.
10: At the tips of feathers there is air and their base: blood. I hold up bones I wish like broken glass they could court light still i try to place these pieces back together to set them firm to make murdered girls live again.
11: Ruth: The Girl Susie is Connected With Sketchbook: Her love of drawing and art. New York Apartment: The small home Ruth enjoyed living in. Poem: Ruth's love of writing poetry about death, which began after Susie died.
13: Susie's Childhood Camera: Her favorite present as a child. Ship in a Bottle: A hobby of her dad's, which she helped him with when she was little. Greek Mythology Book: The stories Susie's mom used to read to her, when she was happier.
14: Dear Diary, I had the strangest, most amazing experience today. Ruth was standing next to the sinkhole where my body was, and we were more connected since I had first died. She thought she saw me, and then suddenly i was in her body! I was back on Earth, and she was in heaven. Neither of us could be happier. I got to see Ray, and kiss Ray, and make love with Ray. It was the best thing that could possibly happen to me, I had been wishing for it for years. It only lasted one night, but it was enough. I was finally able to say goodbye to Earth that way. 15: Closure Bike Shop: Where Susie and Ray went after Susie came to Earth Heart: The love Susie and Ray finally were able to experience for each other. Icicle: When Susie made it into the "wide heaven", she made an icicle fall onto Mr. Harvey, which killed him.
