8: Chapter 1 Summery You see Kino and his family, Juana and Koyotito, in there day to day lives. Koyotito is stung by a scorpion and poisoned. Juana decides to take him to the doctor which is amazing since he is racist against Indians. When they arrive the doctor says he is to buisy and refuses to see them. In response, Kino punches the door in anger
9: Chapter 2 Summery After the refusal by the racist doctor, Kino and his family go pearl fishing. they fish in a canoe that has been in Kinos family for generation. While Kino is under water, Juana rapes Coyotito in some sea weed. Wile diving, Kino sees something in s clam, so he grabs it and goes back up to the canoe, When he opens it he finds "the pearl of the world". Coyotito makes a maraculous recovery.
10: Chapter 3 Summery Kino shows the pearl to the other villagers, telling them what can be done with the money from the pearl. When the racist doctor hears this he goes to the brush house treat Coyotito. He makes a false diagnosis and poisons the baby so that Kino will need to treat Coyotito. Kino is attacked by some one wanting the pearl.
11: Chapter 4 Summery Kino decides to go into town to sell the pearl. the pearl buyers try to trick Kino and give him horrible prices. So Kino refuses to sell the pearl and says he will sell it in the capital tomorrow. So he walks away.
12: Chapter 5 Summery Juana thinks the pearl is evil and tries to through it back to the sea. Kino stops her and beats her for her diffidence. While he walks home he is mugged and is forced to kill a man. Kino and his family hide in Kinos brothers house and sends the angry mob away. Kino decides to leave the town taking only the necessities.
13: Chapter 6 Summery Kino and his family is followed by a group of three trackers. they decide to go into the hills to avoid the trackers, but they are still followed. While Kino makes a daring attempt to steal the rifle and defeat the trackers, they hear Coyotito crying and think he is a wolf pup and shots him. When Kino and Juana get back to the town, Kino throws the pearl back to the sea.
15: The Theme of The Pearl is that if you have a good but hard life, you should not try to trade it for a rich one, because you could loose every thing you once held dear.
