Jimmy and his family were going to the mall to go Christmas shopping for relatives. Jimmy is only about six so of course the toy shop caught his eye. He dragged is mother out of the clothing store over to Arnolds Toy Shop his favorite store of all time. There he saw a yellow fire truck he thought it was so cool! So he asked his mom if he could get it but she said no. He asked her why not and she said “you already have two red fire trucks” and he said “so I need another one!” Jimmys’ mom didn’t say anything but come on Jimmy. He pouted the rest of the day.

The next day he was still pouting. His mother said if you’re going to pout go do it outside. So he got all his snow stuff on and went to play in the snow. He started to make a fort when he saw a kid just walking along the street. He looked to be about Jimmys age but kind of skinnier. He called over to him and the kid walked over. Jimmy asked what his name was and he said it was Ryan. So Jimmy asked Ryan if he would like to make a fort with him. Ryan said yes. Jimmy and Ryan made the biggest fort made out of snow Jimmy had ever seen!

Jimmy and Ryan had become very good friends. They played outside together for hours. Having snow ball fights, jumping in the snow. They had a great time. Jimmy had totally forgotten about the yellow fire truck. He asked Ryan if he would like to spend the night at his house Ryan said yes. They went to go ask Jimmys mom. She said yes as long as jimmy doesn’t pout. Jimmys mom asked Ryan if she needed to take him to get clothes from his house he said no.

Jimmy and Ryan stayed up all night! They played with fire trucks most of the time. Jimmy said to Ryan next time you come over you should bring some of your fire trucks. Ryan said he didn’t have any, Jimmy said well you could bring any kind of toys. Ryan said he didn’t have any toys. Jimmy asked why won’t your parents let you? And Ryan said it’s not that they won’t let me it’s that they can’t. Jimmy said oh, why not? Ryan told him they have to be very careful with what they spend and they have asked to buy me a toy but I didn’t take it. Jimmy said oh well it’s time for bed. Ryan said ok goodnight Jimmy. Jimmy said goodnight back.

Jimmy went to bed thinking about how he was pouting because he didn’t get the yellow fire truck he wanted and jimmy doesn’t even have one toy. In the morning they ate breakfast and went outside and played awhile. Later when Ryan left Jimmy told his mom about Ryan and said he was sorry for pouting. He asked his mother if they could go back to Arnolds toy shop and buy the truck for Ryan. She said yes. Jimmy felt very good about himself on the way home.

Later when Ryan came over Jimmy told Ryan he had a surprise for him. Ryan looked excited and confused. On the way to Jimmys room Ryan could see Jimmys mother smiling at him. When he walked into the room Jimmy gave him a box and when Ryan looked inside of it he saw a brand new Yellow Fire Truck! He was so happy! He asked “what’s this for?” and Jimmy replied ”for being the best friend ever”. Ryan smiled and said but is this the fire truck you wanted? Jimmy said yes it is, but you deserve it more than me. The rest of the day they played with their fire trucks.
