BC: She was most famous for being the first black woman to win the award. She gave a speech and received the award then eventually she went back to writing novels.

FC: Toni Morrison The first African Amercan lady to win the Nobel Prize

2: Toni Morrison was born on February 18 ,1931 in Lorain, Ohio to parents Ramah Wofford and George Wofford. She was the second oldest in her family of four. Toni Morrison went to a public school in an "integrated working-class town", she would say, but she still had to deal with racism.

3: When he got older, she went to Howard University and majored in English and loved to perform with the college theater group. She graduated from Howard in 1953 and went to Cornell University for graduate school. She loved English so much that she got her masters degree in it.

4: In 1958 she got married to an architect named Harold Morrison. Eventually they had two sons. Unfortunetly their marriage ended in 1964. She still had to take care of her kids an got a new job in Syracuse,New York as an Editor for Random House for 25 years. She then began writing. | Toni Morrison got her first job at Texas Southern University and worked there for two years. Then she got a job as a teacher at her former shcool, Howard University.

5: She then moved to New York and,still working, finished and published her first novel. It was called The Buest Eye and was Published in 1969. It's about a little black child who really wants blue eyes, which black people rarely have. Toni began writting more novels and became most famous for her novel, Beloved, about a runaway slave in the Civil War era. This novel won her the Nobel Prize in 1993.
