 Table of Contents | 1.Where I'm From 2.Self-Respect 3.My mother's Kitchen 4.Language Arts

WHERE I'M FROM 1 I am from space, from the asteroid and star I am from the dark desolate vacuum I am from the moon rock, the crisp chalky chunks of white rock I am from picnics on the moon and Lunar lunatics, from Mars and Venus and Izar I am from the alien hunters and Spock From “how are you living in space?” and “that’s not possible” I am from intergalactic churches every time we landed on a new planet every day I'm from Haley’s Comet, asteroid stew, and a milky way From the stories about Buzz Aldrin and the others who first landed on our home, the placing of the American flag on our lawn, leaving their footprints everywhere I am from the outside of the space station, Outside of your nation Outside of your gravitation

Self-Respect Poem 2 Sometimes I try, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I ask why, sometimes I won’t. Depending on price, I might even buy. It really just depends on if I want some pie. I’m not (the average) tall, teenage guy. And I ain’t livin’ up into the sky. But I always learned never to lie Because I am always the one who tells you “hi”. I’m not a pirate who says “aye aye”. My worth is not determined by the amount of color or dye. No matter what, I’ll never fly, I will always be me, myself, and I.

Language arts is where stories are made Language arts is where words are laid Language arts is punctuation Language arts is communication Language arts is for reading and fun Language arts is for everyone

 La cocina de mi madre

Sister groans While mom makes scones In the background, Dad plays on his phone And with all of their might They try not to fight But in their minds, they know that they can’t stand the sight Mom’s homemade scone Have a taste like a bone Because they will always be alone Then now in sight Is Grandma’s car of white Pulls into the oven’s light She walks right in To the big scone tin And starts digging right in
