1: What are wetlands? | Wetlands are a type of ecosystem, that are low-laying and are permanently or for a short-time close to the surface | There are 4 types of wetlands | MARSHES | SWAMPS | BOGS | FENS | How do wetlands form? | They form when land becomes water logged and stays flooded


3: There are two types of marshes | Non-tidal | Tidal

4: A marshes characteristics are growing soft stemmed vegetables that are adapted to soaked soil conditions | Non-tidal marshes are located all around North America, and Tidal Marshes are located along protected coastlines

6: Plants/Animals Living in Marshes | Two types of Animals that live in Marshes are the Muskrat and Mink. Also in marshes there are these two types of plants a common cattail and a Pickerelweed.

10: Characteristics of a Swamp | & | A swamps characteristics is that they are surrounded by woody plants,and have saturated soil during the growing season and during a specific time of year Swamps have standing water

11: Locations of Swamps | Swamps are located all around the United States, and some swamps are located in Southern Florida

13: Some Plants living in Swamps are the Skunk Cabbage and Button Bush.Animals like Wood Ducks (Aix sponsa) and the Prothonotary Warblers also inhabit swamps.

16: Characteristics of a Bog | & | Locations of Bogs | The floor of a bog is covered by sphagnum moss, and bogs have acidic waters and spongy peat deposits | Bogs are located in Northern states and Atlantic Coastal Plain from Virgina to Northern Florida

19: PLANTS AND ANIMALS | Mud Salamanders and Black bear live in Bogs. You can also find plants like the Sweet pitcher plant and the Zenobia.

22: Characteristics of a Fen | & | Locations of a Fen | Fens are characterized by the less productive hallows that separate the vegetations of parallel ridges | Fens are located in the Northern Hemisphere

25: Plants and Animals | Water snakes and Turtles live in fens, also the Showy Lady Slipper and a sedge are some plants that also can be found in fens.

26: What are some effects of the disappearing wetlands? | What are at least three human activities that threaten the wetlands? | * agricultural * urbanization * and industrial purposes | In some places there are changes in the ecosystems. If they are gone than they won't help us with things like eroding shorelines and providing a habitat for many species

27: What is happening to Wetlands? | Wetlands are being affected by Urbanization and industrial Purposes. Also they are being harmed by Pollution

28: What is being done(or can be done) to stop the destruction of wetlands?

29: The EPA Wetlands Program is working on protecting the most important ecosystems. Wetlands protection works better when they work with other programs. These types of programs include flood control, water supply, control of stormwater, and non-point source pollution
