FC: James Adam Swaggerty: | Your First Year
2: Your Arrival | You have kept us on our toes right from the beginning! On July 9, 2009, I went to my 39 week appointment. I found out you were breech and I would need a c-section. The doctor wanted me to check into the hospital within the hour and get ready for the delivery. The surgery was scheduled for noon the next day. Your daddy was away in California. training for his deployment so the doctor sent a Red Cross message to let him know he needed to get home as soon as possible. He rushed to get a flight that night and headed back to Knoxville. "Pops" and Uncle Nick had been staying with me to wait for your arrival. I called to tell my dad the news, and he started gathering my things for the hospital. I came home from my appointment, grabbed my bags and headed to the hospital to check in. The next morning, your daddy's flight was delayed several times. We were all getting very nervous, but he arrived just in time, around 11:30 a.m., right as the anesthesiologist came in the room. I was so happy to see him and so thankful that he arrived on time! Before we knew it, it was time to head to the operating room to meet you! We were so excited to finally meet our sweet baby boy!

65: Dear James, It's hard to believe how quickly your first year flew by! It feels like just yesterday that we had not met you. We wondered what you would look like, what color your hair would be, what kind of personality you would have... Yet, even though we had never seen your face, we already had such a sweet connection with you. We loved you before you were ever born, but when we finally saw you, we immediately felt a kind of love we had never experienced. A year ago, our lives changed. But we had no idea how wonderful parenthood would be. You have been such a blessing, a wonderful gift from God. We are so thankful that the Lord entrusted you into our care. What a privilege it has been to watch you grow! You have changed so much this year, and we look forward to seeing how much you grow and change in the coming years. We pray that you will always have the sweet, happy spirit you have now and that you will have a heart for the Lord and for others. To our smart, happy, strong, creative, sweet, handsome son: we couldn't have asked for a better child. We love you very much! Love, Momma and Daddy
