S: Sophie Alicia Rogers
Our journey through the pregnancy of little baby Sophie. Our beautiful, sweet perfect little girl. We will always cherish our first 9 months together. Lovingly, Mommy & Daddy
It was the day after Thanksgiving when I realized I might be pregnant. I had been in Texas spending Thanksgiving with Zach and Zoie. Marc stayed one more day in Texas to watch Zach's football game and I flew home alone. I stopped by Walmart to grab a pregnancy test on the way home. I wanted to wait until the next morning but couldn't wait! I stared at the test for what felt like an eternity... and I was pregnant! I texted Marc to call me when he had time. He called immediately. He was with Zoie at Sonic. I told him and he was so excited but wished I had waited for him to be here with me.
Watching you grow for 9 months... We thought it would be fun to take a photo every couple of months to watch you grow in my belly. I didn't start showing until around 4 months so the first three months we didn't take any pics. I loved watching you grow and get one step closer to coming out to meet us
I really didn't have any weird food cravings. I wanted fruit all the time and then chocolate. Only once did I want a specific fajita burrito and called your dad and told him exactly what I wanted from Fuzzy's. Haha! Then, I found out I had diabetes and had to go on a special diet and couldn't eat fruit as much as I had been
January 9 is a day I will never forget. We had our first appointment to see an ultrasound. Your dad and I couldn't wait to see you! It felt like time was going so slow while I was waiting for this appointment to arrive so I could finally see my little baby. I would still have to wait 2 more months to find out if you were a girl or boy. I think I drove your dad crazy trying to come up with a name when we weren't even sure of your sex yet.
We were so excited to tell everyone we were having a girl!
I'm not very good with secrets so as soon as we found out I had to call and tell everyone and then post it on Facebook! Your Nona knew you would be a girl and had already bought so much girl stuff! She was also planning a baby shower for me and had bought everything for a girl shower. Her intuition was correct and the ultrasound showed us a little girl!
After many months of searching for baby names, narrowing it down to 3 choices, and praying about a name for our little baby...My mind was done searching and stressing. We finally narrowed it down to Sophie Alicia. Alicia had always been the middle name after your grandmother but the first name was a little harder. Her name will be Sophie Alicia Rogers! Sophie: Wisdom Alicia: Noble kind
I wanted the nursery to be perfect! Nona had a great idea to make it hot pink and zebra. I thought it would be so cute and trendy! Your dad didn't agree at first but then he bought in and went crazy buying stuff to make your room perfect. We got an adorable wall decal that helped soften up all the hot pink and black and mixed in some lighter pink. Your dad and I had a great time decorating. It turned out really cute! We can't wait to show you your new room.
The first time I felt you kick was both amazing and weird at the same time. I realized that I actually had a real human being growing inside of me. You had grown so much that your little legs and feet were strong enough to kick! WOW! I will never forget that first kick for the rest of my life.
I was lucky to have 2 showers! My mom threw me one in Texas and Bri threw me one in Colorado. At both showers, the food, favors and decor were lovely. I had so much fun visiting with all of my family and friends and share the magic of my pregnancy with them. I am very blessed to have such amazing people in my life. We have everything we need now thanks to all of the generous gifts we received. I don't think I'll have to buy any clothes for a long time. We're ready to welcome her home.
It was so fun to watch everyone play the fun baby games
We have been on this journey together for 8 months now and I can't believe I get to meet you in one month! It has been such an easy pregnancy with the exception of a couple of weeks of morning sickness and gestational diabetes, but it is well worth it.
I have so many plans for us. Trips to the zoo, play dates with your friends, tea parties, birthday parties, spa days, shopping for pretty dresses, baking your favorite cookies, exploring life's wonders and watching you grow into a beautiful young lady. I can't wait to show you my world and I hope that one day I will get to see the birth of your child.
Little Sophie entered into this world on Tuesday, July 31 2012. I went into the hospital on the 29th to start the process for being induced. The next morning things started to change so they decided to see if I would go into labor without more meds. They decided to break my water and things started going fast. I went into labor and pushed for an hour and Dr Kozak realized the baby wouldn't fit in the birth canal. We went to surgery and baby Sophie was born at 12:53am. It was amazing and a very emotional experience for all of us. | hospital
