2: A | Astros | The Astros are a Major League Baseball team from Houston, Texas. They play at Minute Maid Park. The Astros have had six Hall of Fame players. The Astros have also had one Hall of Fame manager. The Houston Astros have never won the World Series. It is the oldest MLB franchise to have never won the World Series. | Baseball, Team

3: B | Basketball | Basketball | Dr. James Naismith was the inventor of Basketball. Naismith wanted a game based on skill, not strength. The first ball used was a soccerball. Back then teams only had 9 players.They used Peach baskets fixed to the walls. | Basketball, History

5: D | Texas Roller Derby | Texas Roller Derby was founded in 2001 in Austin. It is a sport made up of primarily women ages 21 to 45. It is an all women sport. There are 4 positions that have a specific task. There are 8 teams in the Texas Roller Derby league. | Roller Derby, Competition

6: E | Eagle Field | Eagle Field is located At 218 E. Travis in Luling, Texas. It is a part of the Luling ISD. Eagle Field has a capacity of 4,000 people. It is the Home field of the Luling Eagles. It has a grass field and a 6 lane track. | Football/track, Venue

7: F | Firecracker | Golf, Competition | The Firecracker is a 4th of July weekend tournament. It is held at Lions Municipal golf course. It has been going for 60 years. Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw, Omar Uresti, and Billy Claggett are some big names that have won the Firecracker.

8: G | Golf | Golf, History | Golf was first played in the 15th century in Scotland. Players would hit a pebble around a natural course of sand dunes. Rabbit runs and tracks were used as holes. The sticks were primitive clubs. Golf became a pro sport in 1851.

9: H | Hockey has been around since early civilization. The earliest origin of the game was 4000 years ago. Field Hockey has been around since before Christ, in places such as Rome, Scotland, Egypt, and South America. The first NHL season was 1917-1918. | Hockey | Hockey, History

10: I | Iaido | Swords have existed in Japan for its entire existence. The founder was Hayashizaki Jinsuke Minamoto Shigenobo. There is a Head Master of every generation. He is appointed to guide the practice of Iaido. Iaido is the art of swordsmanship. It is practiced by two or three thousand people in Japan. | Iaido, History

12: K | Kenny Vaccaro | Kenny Vaccaro is a safety for the Texas Longhorns. He was recruited by 9 schools. He visited Texas in 2008 and committed later that year. He is six foot one, and 201 pounds. His hometown was Brownwood, Tx. He is number 16. | Football, Individual

13: L | Lacrosse | It was first played by indigenous Native Americans in the time of European contact. It was almost only a male sport at the time. The one rule that they had was that the ball could not be touched by your hands. 14: M | DKR Memorial Stadium | The DKR Memorial Stadium is the Home field of the Texas Longhorns. Its capacity of 100,119 makes it the 6th largest collegiate stadium in the country and the largest in the southwest. It includes a $8-million Prostar Video Board that is 55 feet tall and 134 feet wide. The stadium was previously renovated in August of 1999. | Football, Venue

15: N | Ebbie Neptune Field. | Ebbie Neptune Field is a High school field owned by EANES ISD in Travis County. The capacity of it is 10,361. It opened in 1970 and is a multi-sport field. It has turf and a video score board. | Multi-sport, venue

16: O | Rice Owls | The Rice Owls have been to four NCAA basketball tournaments. Their record is 2-5 with no Final Four or championship appearances. It is an intercollegiate men's basketball program. They are an NCAA division one school. Rice competes in Conference USA. | Basketball, Team

17: P | Minute Maid Park | Baseball, Venue | In the year 2000 the field was changed to real grass and an outdoor stadium. The park has a 242- foot high retractable roof. The retractable roof brought open-air baseball to Houston for the first time in 35 years. The deepest point of the field is 436 feet. It seats 40,950 people.

18: Q | Quan Cosby | Football, Individual | Quan Cosby was a Wide Receiver for the Texas Longhorns. His hometown is Mart, TX. Quan is 5' 11'' and 200 pounds. He now plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a former prep QB and minor league baseball player that developed into one of the Big 12's top wideouts.

19: R | Westlake Rugby | Rugby, Team | The Westlake Rugby team was District Champions in 2011, and Third in state. They also achieved 3rd place in the Western US. Rugby was the precursor of modern American Football. Westlake has many college recruits that play rugby. This list includes three players chosen for the Texas High School All-State Rugby team.

20: S | Texas State Championship | Football, Competition | The Texas State Championship is a high school football competition. It was held at the Alamo Dome last year, and DKR Memorial stadium two years ago. The division one and division two championships are held on the same day.

21: T | Texas Relays | Track, Competition | Texas Relays is a track event held at UT where the fastest people from around Texas show off their speed. Both international and national races are held. The races are held only once a year. Many Records are broken at this race.

22: U | University of Texas | UT has appeared in many bowl games, with four national championships. UT has been building great players since they started, sending many of them to the NFL. They play at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium. Almost every game for the Texas Longhorns is sold out. | Football, Team

23: V | Vince Young | Vince Young was born on May 18th, 1983, in Houston, Texas. At the age of seven he was struck by a car while riding his bike. He suffered handle bars through the abdomen, and spent months in the hospital. Young says the incident made him physically tougher. He was a Heisman candidate, but lost to Reggie Bush. | Football, Individual

24: W | Rodrique Wright | Football, Individual | Rodrique Wright was born in Houston,Texas. He was a defensive end for the Texas Longhorns football team. He was ranked 2nd best defensive end in the nation by They considered him a five star. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 7th round of the 2006 NFL draft.

25: X | HCMS Cross Country | The HCMS cross country is a team consisting of both girls and boys. This year the girls won the district track meet. The coach of cross country is Coach Sanderson. They practice before school mostly, but have also practiced at different times. The HCMS cross country team always has high hopes that they will win district. | Cross Country, Team

26: Y | Selvin Young | Football, Individual | Selvin Young is a football player that played for Texas in College. He now plays for the Denver Broncos. Selvin is 5'11" and weighs 215 pounds. He was born in Houston, Texas in 1983. Selvin is a running back and he averages about five yards per carry.

27: Z | Zach Thomas | Football, Individual | Zach Thomas is a line backer who played to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He is 5'11" and weighs 228 pounds. In the NFL he played for the Miami Dolphins and the Dallas Cowboys. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl eight times. Zach Thomas has recorded over 1000 tackles throughout his NFL career.
