2: Enterotome -large scissors that are used for opening intestines. The bulb-ended blade is inserted into the hollow inside of the gut, and the instrument is smoothly stripped down the length f the intestine. The blunt bulb keeps the internal blade from preforating the gut from the inside.

5: Skull Chisel - Used to gently finish the separation of the top of the calvarium (the vault-like part of the skull that holds the brain) from the lower skull, thus exposing the brain and it's coverings.

7: Hagedorn Needle- Also known as the sailmaker's needle, the large needle is used to sew up the body after the autopsy with heavy twine.

9: Rib Cutters- used to cut the ribs prior to lifting of the chest plate Scalpel- has a long handle to reach deep into the body

11: Toothed Forceps- grips heavy organs in removal Scissors- used for hollow organs and trimming off tissue

12: Bone Saw- can be used to saw through the skull, but rarely used today Hammer with Hook- seperate the calvarium from the lower skull

14: Bread Knife- used to smoothly cut solid organs into slices for examination Vibrating Saw- used to remove the brain, rarely used today because it throws up potentially infectious aerosols

17: Biopsy Bags and Pads- reduce risk of small specimen loss Bone Dust Collector- collect dust that is spread Brushes- nylon and stainless steel Measuring Devices- measure the body
