S: The trip to Ellis Island and all of the fun after

FC: My Immigration Project | Joan Hikinbottom (Ava Bobst)

January 27th 1877 When I boarded the ship I was so scared of all the people from Berlin Germany. The ship was hot, stinky, and smelled like rotten fish. It was horrible, my first thought was how long was it going to take. Then I wondered what if we don’t have enough money? Or what if one of my parents are sick???????????? Another thought crossed through my head, what questions are they going to ask me? I had to be brave for my little brother and sisters sake. Also I couldn’t cry because my mom and dad are doing this for the best. Wow I see it, I see Ellis Island!

January 28th 1877 We arrived at Ellis Island. It is so amazing on the outside, the large women standing with a torch really makes a statement. Although the color of Grey-green is not a big turn on I didn't mind. On the inside you can feel the anticipation running through peoples bodies as they wait in line to be tested. Oh no I’m next.I just got tested and I’m not sure what just happened they asked me weird questions like.. “ where are you from?” or “ do you have any siblings?” also questions like “ what are your parents names?” and “how do you spell your name in English?.” Wow what a day!

January 28th 1877 I just found out I passed every thing from walking up those giant stairs to answering questions. My medical examinations came back positive and so did my mom’ dad, and sister! but my brother didn't get his back yet I’ am scared for him what's going to happen is going to be able to stay???

my mom and dad passed too!

January 29th 1877 | My brother passed yay I’m so happy we finally are able to go to the kissing both where we will meet our family to say hi for the first time in real life! | I’m not sure what they look like so it might be tough but I’m sure I will know when I see them. | I’m not sure what they look like so it might be tough but I’m sure I will know when I see them! look there they are!

Look at all my pictures from the trip

February 15th 1877 This journey has been amazing! I now live in Las Angelas California and we live on the beach!

I go to PALMS MIDDLE where they kindly accepted me and now I have a new best friend named Mary she is so nice! Although I miss Berlin I do love it here with all my new friends.

 Love,
