FC: Caddo Indians

1: The Caddo Indians lived in East Texas

2: Below: This is what their summer homes would look like they also used these arbors to dry their meats and vegetables. | Above: This is what their winter homes looked like.

3: The Caddo Indians made all of their clothing either out of cotton or buffalo hide. They would use vegetable dye to give color to their clothing.

5: The Caddo Indians made their weapons and tools from wood and slate stone. THey would pound the slate to get the shape they needed. Could you imagine cutting down a tree with one these axes? It would take quite a long time.

6: They would gather plants, nuts & fruits such as blackberries, acorns, and roots. | They planted crops of corn, beans, and squash as their main food source.

7: The Caddo Indians hunted game in the piney woods near them such as deer, squirrels, turkey and rabbits. The men would create hunting parties and would be gone for several weeks as they traveled to the Southern Plains to hunt Buffalo.
