Once upon a time, a happy family of deer lived in a large forest. There was a mom, a dad, and a young buck named Daniel. They lived simply in their forest home searching the forest for food | 1
One day Daniel's cousin, Joe, came to visit with terrible news, "My dad has been trapped under a fallen tree, I need your help to free him!" "That's awful!" dad said, "let's go right away." | 2
So they set off immediately. Daniel, his dad, and cousin Joe walking down the forest path talking. Daniel's dad said that it would take about a day to reach Joe's dad. | 3
As his dad and cousin talked about boring adult things, Daniel began to fall behind. A pretty butterfly flew across the path and Daniel stopped to watch. | 4
The butterfly disappeared into the dense forest and Daniel turned back toward the path, but it was gone! He turned every way but he soon realized that a terrible thing had happened: he was lost! | 5
Daniel ran in circles but he could not see or hear his dad or his cousin. With all hope seemingly gone Daniel sat down and began to cry. He was devastated and lost. | 5
As the day wore on, Daniel dried his tears. He thought to himself that he had antlers now and he must grow up. He set off in what he thought was the right direction, but he didn't recognize any of the trees that seemed to close in on him. | 6
Daniel wandered through the forest and saw a rabbit peering at him with his head cocked in confusion. "Are you lost?" the friendly rabbit asked. | 8
"Yes," Daniel replied, " I can't find my dad or my cousin. Can you help me?" | "Sure," said the rabbit, "I know the forest very well and I have a friend who can help us" | 9
"See that black bird?" asked the rabbit, "that is my friend the crow and he will help us find your dad" | 10
"What seems to be the problem my young buck?" asked the friendly crow as he landed. | 11
"I've lost my dad and i can't seem to find him," Daniel explained. | "I'll find your dad!" the crow assured. | 12
The friendly crow soared over the forest. "There's your dad' he soon cried. | 13
The group marched quickly to Daniel's father and cousin | 14
15 | Daniel was happily reunited with his family and he said goodbye to the friends that had helped him.
