2: Geography The congo is situated in west central Africa astride the equator. It borders Gabon, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Angola extent of Cabinda. It varies from tropical rainforests to terraces, plateaus,savannahs, dense grasslands, and mountains. Its climate is equatorial and ranges from tropical rainforest in the Congo River Basin, hot and humid and much of the north and west, cooler and drier in the south central area and the east. 4: species. The Congo Basin holds up to one qauter of the world's tropical rainforests.It also provides food, materials, and shelter to some 20 million people.
6: Historical Background | In July 1990, the leaders of the ruling party voted to end the one-party system. A national political confrence, hailed as a model for sub-Saharan Africa, reannounced Maxis in 1991 and scheduled the country's first free election for 1992. Pascal Lissouba became the countries first democratically elected president.
7: In 1998, after the senior Kabila broke off all ties with his former Rwanda allies, Nkunda bcame one of the commanders of the rebel Congoles Rally for Democracy backed by Kigali during the regional conflict which shook ex-Zaire until 2003.
8: In the begining of Congo's independce the country went through a couple difficulties which included: the governer of Tanga attempting seccession, the army mutinied, and rebellion played the government. In 1965, Mubato seized control of the country and declared himself president. Congo was under French control.

10: People and Population The population of Congo is 3,903,318. There are 250 different ethnic groups, that have been distinguished and named. Some of the larger groups are the Kongo,Luba,and Anamongo. Traditional religons include concepts such as monotheism, aninism and Christianity.
12: Economy Agriculture is the mainstay of the Congolese economy. The main cash crops include coffee, palm oil, rubber, cotton, sugar, tea, and cocoa. The industry in Congo includes manufacturing and mining. The natural resources in Congo are cobolt, copper, colton,gold,tin,and zink. The GDP of the country is $13.23 billion. The per capita annual income is $3,700.
14: Government | The type of government in Congo is democratic. The current President is Joseph Kabila. The current Prime Minster is Adolphe Muzito. Challenges faced include a number of illegal Congolese and foreign militas have operated laregely with impunity. Also, political and ethnic tensions have increased when the opposition's rejection of the results developed into violence.
16: Conclusion | In conclusion, Congo has gone through many struggles that include weak leadership and colonization and the struggle for independence. But in the end the country has pulled together and created a democracy that has been some what useful and continues to grow. As the country grows together it has become more unified.
