FC: Elizabethan Era

1: Geography | The geography of Elizabethan England consisted of rolling hill, and mountains. The was also a great deal of rainfall and harbours in this area. England, Wales, and Ireland belonged to Elizabethan England. The best was to get around was by horses. The was also a lack of good street signs so most people relied on maps to get them from place to place.

3: Horses and maps helped people get around. Also there weren't many street signs.

4: The Elizabethan people believed strongly in superstitions. This means that they believed in witches and witchcraft. They were also very scared of these things, and anyone accused and found guilty suffered harsh consequences. People were accused of being witches due to unexplained events. People wanted someone to blame for things such as the bubonic plague, so they accused people of using witchcraft to make these things happen. Women were the people mainly accused of being witches. | RELIGION

8: During this time period the theater thrived. People such as William Shakespeare composed famous plays. Also art and music flourished. Music was played everywhere and was a great component in the plays. Paintings of the queen and much more showed up as well. | Acheivements

10: Politics | The government at this time was a monarchy. Treatment was very harsh, and people had to do whatever the Queen said to do. There were many odd laws passes. Some of the laws were religious.

12: Gradually after many years a prosperous economy began to grow in Elizabethan England. Woolen cloth and miniature portraits began to emerge from England as the more important aspect of trade. Tin and copper was mined for another source of economic success. Antwerp was the center of trade during this time. | ECONOMY


15: In this society there was only upper class and lower class. This was decided on where you lived and how much money you made. The lower class was not poor though, because they had steady jobs. Both classes attended theater performances, and other events. They were able to provide for their families. The theaters were very special to the people during this time. It was something that everyone could attend even though some got better seats. It was a source of entertainment in this time.

16: WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE | Born in Stratford, England, and baptized in Avon, England on April 23, 1564. Shakespeare only attended school through elementary years. At school he learned a great deal of writing and reading English. He grew up to marry Anne Hathaway, and have three children. Whose names were Susanna, Hamlet, and Judith. He died on April 23, 1616 at the age of 52. His wife died in 1623. Shakespeare's parents were named John and Mary, John was a glove maker for a living,

18: Career

19: Shakespeare was famous for writing plays, poems and sonnets. He wrote 36 plays in total. The acting company he wrote for was called the Chamberlain's men which changed to become called the King's men. He moved to London due to the better and numerous writing opportunities. He wrote a wide variety of plays including history, comedy, and tragedy.. He co-owned the Globe Theater with James Burdage. This theater was very successful, but closed for two year when it burned down. He used early modern english language to write his plays in. This was the language being spoken during the ELizabethan Era.

20: PERSONA | Hello, my name is Jane and i am 27 years old. My reading, writing, and comprehension skill have enabled me to achieve the status of a scribe. This job of writing volumes, and researching laws and matters gives me a fairly high economic status. Although my wage is standard, I am seem as wealthy due to the amount of education I have received. Also the fact that I am entitled to all benefits and luxuries of the castle life gives me a higher economic status. I live in the Capulet's castle, and I am very loyal to them. I am not very tall and I am a bit overweight. During this time it is a sign of wealth to be overweight, because it shows that you can afford to eat well. I have long brown hair and blue eyes. I am a very patient person, because my occupation requires immense amounts of concentration and time to complete my tasks. Also I am very social, because I also read to be able to talk to people to record data. I wear darker colors to show off embroidering and jewels in my clothing. At home I act as a housewife, and a good mother. I obey my husband and am very hardworking.
