Through the past couple of years, my grandfather has been struggling with his health. From heart disease to diabetes, He has been to make a lifestyle change, which has been extremely difficult for him given his love of mountain dew and my grandmothers cooking. Through this, our family as a whole has been able to change our lifestyle as well. We have started eating healthier, and trying to stay active, Instead of changing something later, in a time of life or death, we have changed it earlier, hopefully preventing diseases such as heard disease and diabetes for our families in the future. | Since I was born, I can remember both of my grandmothers cooking delicious meals. Coming from German and Norwegian descent, there are many dishes that most people have not tried throughout their lifetime. We all pitch i n in the kitchen, whether it is turning Lefse, or making chocolate pretzels. During Christmas and Thanksgiving, it is a tradition that represents our family, and it allows us to spend as much time together as we can.

Throughout most of my middle school, and half of my high school career, I was involved in volleyball. It provided in me a sense of team and leadership, and also involved my family as well. It was a time when not only my immediate family, but extended as well, were able to be together. Our weeks would revolve around tournaments, games, and practices. Earlier this ear, my sister also joined a Volleyball team, only for the cycle to begin again. | My pets have been, throughout my life, an extended part of family. We have treated them well and always loved them like a brother or sister. Our family cherishes both our dogs and our cats. And although some are not with us today, we remember them like they were our family members. Our pets symbolize our love for family and our willingness to cherish the time we have with them.

Throughout the past few summers, I have worked with CAHL, an organization that promotes healthy living in the community. Specifically, I have worked with them to do compliance checks, which involves going to gas stations, being underage, and attempting to purchase cigarettes.I do this because it is very important to me that we keep the community safe for minors, and keep them our of harms way when it comes to the Big Tobacco and their companies. | Growing up with my especially religious grandparents instilled a sense of religion in me. Throughout the years that have passed where I have been able to make my own, educated decisions, I realized that through the teachings of my faith, it is O.K to believe differently than just what the Bible entails. Although I am a Christian, there are many teachings from the Bible I think should not be taken literally, instead, should be taken as a lesson to improve upon yourself.

Growing up with my mother as a teacher, it has always been very important in my family to get good grades. This is a way fro my parents to show that they care, to make sure we get into a good school after High School. Even through grade school, my parents would sit down with me at the table to ensure that I was understanding my homework, and they would help me in whatever ways possible. As I got older, it became increasingly difficult for them to help, because of their different areas of expertise. What they did for me in my elementary and m middle school years, though is whatI value the most. | In middle school, as well as High School, it was very important to my parents , and expected that my brother, sister, and I, were involved in a sport. They did not necessarily care if we were good at it, but they wanted us to gain a sense of team and leadership, as well as how to work productively with others.

One thing that represents myself is a cell phone. Without communication to my friends and family, I feel as if I am lost. Unfortunately, this can go for myself, or any other teenager in America. Our dependence on technology is increasing day by day. It provides so many opportunities that I was not accustomed to in the past. | Friends is another important part of my life. With my friends, I have shared many memorable experiences, such as Prom, Homecoming, Pool Parties, and even just eating out. This leaves me with pictures and memories of them when I attend o college next year.

The Internet is something that I could not go without for more than a week. Growing up with all the information I could ever need has been beneficial for multiple different reasons. It provides me with a better education by being able to effectively use it, and it has provided multiple social networking sites, where I can interact with my friends. | Like most teenagers, I also take pride in what I wear. It is a reflection of who I am, or how I am feeling that day. Certain stores, such as American Eagle, prove to be my favorite by producing clothing that catches my eye the most often.

One of the things I am most looking forward to is the summer. Winter is not my ideal season, and there are so many more opportunities that I have without the interference of school. Most of my favorable memories have occurred while it has been warm outside, and I hope to make many new memories this upcoming summer, the last summer I have before heading off to college. | Throughout the past couple of years, I have been able to understand and research topics related to politics. Throughout this, I have taken a strong political stance with the Democratic Party. I agree with most of what they speak, and enjoyed feeling a pat of something that can make a difference for the greater good in the world

This past fall, I had the opportunity to see Obama speak in Green Bay. During this, our tickets got upgraded, and actually got to stand directly behind him during his speech. While doing so, we were on t.v, right above his left and right shoulder. It was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life, along with seeing Michelle Obama speak. I even got to shake his hand while he was making his rounds, after his speech. | One of the things my friends and I do frequently is road trip. We enjoy new experiences in new places. Whether it is just for a Hockey game, or a day in a city that we have been wanting to see, there is little stopping my friends and I from being there.
