5: The Scarlet Letter is a novel about a woman, Hester Prynne ,accused of adultery and punished for a life of humility. She is given a red "A" to wear on her chest, it signifies her sin and she can hide from no one. Her husband disappears and she assumes he is dead. Even though still married she falls in love. In this love she conceives a child. A child born of sin. The child's father, Arthur Chillingworth, hides in the shadows of the church while doing his holy duties. His guilt eats away at his very core until he cant take it. The story unfolds into bursts of freedom, love, and triumph over the usual.

9: To Kill A mockingbird is a timeless story about coming of age, the difference between right and wrong, the reality of a cruel world, and the innocence of a child. Atticus, Scout, and Jem are the main characters. Atticus is the strong-willed lawyer defending a black man, Tom Robinson, who is accused of raping a white woman. AS the novel proceeds, Atticus and his family get harassed and discriminated against. Scout, his youngest daughter, is a feisty seven year old with no conscious and a big open heart loses her essence of childhood as she discovers how cruel the world can actually be. Jem, her older brother, is growing up fast and is taking in a lot of responsibility. As you read on Jem becomes more a man than a kid. He sees the world for what it truly is and understands what it is about. As the story moves on you learn about the mysterious Boo Radley. A very quiet man who lives in his home and never comes out. The mystery unfolds into the true meaning of killing a mockingbird.

13: Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God was a sermon written by Jonathan Edwards to scare people into doing the right thing and abide by your faith. His sermons were so strong and powerful everyone wanted to attend and hear it. His sermon was meant to be heard, not read. The power and strength he used in his sermons scared people. It made them want to live right and abide by their faith so they can go to Heaven. He made God a fearful person, he made him a force to be reckoned with. It is very popular to this day and is known worldwide.
