Entry #1 | Hola, me nombre es Esperanza! That's Spanish for, Hi my name is Esperanza! The reason I speak Spanish is because my family is Mexican. My papa was Mexican and my mama is Mexican. I also live in La Rancha de la Rosas. Despite the fact I am an only child, I have many friends at my privet school here in Mexico.

Entry #2 | Hola, Today it’s my birthday! My papa is out working in the fields and we are just waiting for him to get back so we can celebrate. We are searching for my papa and it is getting pretty late. We are starting to worry about my father. So we resolved that by sending the servants to find him. Around two hours later, they came back. They came back wheeling a wagon with a blanket on top. Our family got the jest my father was found and he was under that single blanket, my dead father was under that blanket. Now on my 12th birthday we sit in a circle and cry forever. Although my family will get over the horrific happening of my fathers passing.

Entry #3 | Sand storm! Running in to the house Lupe, Pepe , Irene, and I are sprinting in so we can get away from the dust storm. The dust storm was a mail part of “Rising Esperanza.” This was the first dust storm ever in my life! I had a heart attack (not really, but I felt like that!) I heard a scratch at the door, it was Isabelle cat! I creaked the door open so the dust couldn’t get in but Isabelles cat could. Then I heard a tatter, it was the grown-ups coming in the house. They looked as brown and caked in dust as, black 2 hour burnt patty cackes that were coated in a layer of Cinnamon sugar.

Entry #4 | Where is all of the money I have saved?! I’m going on a scavenger hunt trying to find all of the money. I screamed “Miguel, can you help me find ALL of my money?” Hortencia said “ Miguel already left to get mama.” “He did what!!!” I exclaimed. He couldn’t have gone to Mexico and back with no money. Miguel took all of my saved money that I kept safe untill now when it is some were in the world mabey not even with Miguel. How could he take all of that in just two seconds, but it took me three months to earn it.

Entry #5 | Abuelita screams “ mama, mama you're here!” With joy, and a delicate hug she ran towards mama with much excitement. Then looked at all of the rest of us. She gave a warm smile and ran to me with an endearing hug because she knew everything was going to be okay. She knew everything was okay. Everything that she had missed we filled her in with a nice dinner with the family. We woke in the morning feeling like a whole family once again. Now we will be happy for the rest of our lifes.

Entry #6 | Wow! Esperanza is that really you( Or am I dreaming again?) I went over and touched her arm... I wasn’t dreaming! “Wow um, I’m a gargantuan fan!” I exclaimed. Was the story that Pam Muñoz Ryan wrote really true? Was all of the horrors and wonders true! Esperaza finally got a word or two to squeeze in to my enthusiasm. She said “ Yes, all of that was true.” Really? Here I’ll treat you to lunch! Give me all of the details when we are there. Then my talk with Esperanza soon could turn in to a life time conversation.
