FC: Post World War II | After World War II was over, communism didn't completely end. Stalin still practiced communism in the Soviet Union. However, most of communist Europe was forced to become democratic. Also, KimJong-ll was the leader of the rising communist North Korea. NATO was the group of nations that wanted to keep peace ofter the war and also to get rid of communism. Japan had been bombed, and as usual the cost of recovery all over the world would take a long time.

1: Containment Policy | Truman Doctrine: this lent a large amount of money to countries trying to remain anti-communist. | The Red Scare: was a time of paranoia in the U.S. of communism spreading, this led us into many wars. . | Capitalism is the type of economy a democracy has. It is what the U.S. tried so hard t o spread throughout the wars they were involved in, in the 1900's. | George Marshall was Truman's secretary of state. He created the Marshall Plan, which was to aid countries to help prevent the spread of communism.

2: Korean War | The 38th Parallel was the dividing line of North and South Korea, and was very symbolic during the war. | Because we were so concerned about keeping containment, the U.S. got involved and helped South Korea stay anti-communist. If we didn't Korea would probably be one communist nation right now | The North Korean leader during the war was Kim II-Sung. And the South Korean leader was Syngman Rhee

3: Vietnam War | HO Chi Minh was the leader of the Vietnamise revolutionaries. | Several people did what they could to stop the war. People like Jane Fonda and John Lennon, used their advantage of being celebrities to promote the idea of anti-war. Lennon wrote music against it and Fonda traveled around the U.S. speaking and funding for protests. | The Viet-Cong lived in the South and they only pretended to be anti-communist. The Vietnim lived in the north and were communist. It was challenging for the U.S. to tell the difference most of the time.

4: Collapse of | When Gorbachev became premier of the U.S.S.R. , the Soviets started to demand more rights and freedoms. They wanted a different and better economy. So Gorbachev let them have it, and from that point forward, the Soviet Union slowly fell into democracy and communism began to decline. This was very good for the U.S. because it's what we had been trying to do since the very beginning: get rid of communism.

5: Communism | Star Wars: this was a treaty between the Soviet Union and the U.S. to agree and limit on the number of atomic weapons. | The fall of the Berlin Wall was significant because it symbolizes the end of communism in Germany, and that Germany could be once again, united. | Regan was the president when communism fell in Europe.
