Poker Poem I'm a beast in the desert, at night I howl at the moonlight Thankful for my grace and pray to heaven every night Now it's spring and the birds fly high Tryin' to juggle this sour taste on my tounge Instead I let it dissolve and die I'm warning you my love is soft But my heart's a black curse I don't wish I just follow my soul Say murder, I giggle then write you in my verse

Death Jumpin' out of black cars With black guns, black clothes Black bullet holes Strawberry floors Cherry windows Dead friends Dead kinfolk No tape on the gun just the extender and the leather Can't have no emotions hit the baby or whatever Bodies all over the steps , hope dey slept soft Gotta walk around them I did when I crept off If you were not home then we're havin' the kids If you can't come up with half I'll send you half of your kid You're fam'll call you in the morning saying "send'em the bread" Or you can come in from work everybody dead Find your Pa dead on father's day Stick you in the trunk and tell you "Lets Play" Surprise your mom with your head on mother's day Now THAT'S MESSED UP!!!

The similarities between Kayne West and Langston Hughes are that their parents both divorced ata young age. They both moved a few times and lived in Illinois. They both eventually lived with their mothers. They both attended college. The differences between the two men wer that Kayne West was more middle class while Langston Hughes was lower middle class. He had to work mediocre jobs. Kayne dropped out of college while Langston graduated. When comparing and constrating the lyrics of Kayne West to the poetry of Langston Hughes, you notice that Kayne's lyrics have more rhyme schemes whil Hughes' is more free verse. They both use repitition/refrain and end rhyme.

from "Stronger" Kanye West N-n-now th-that don't kill me Can only make me stronger I need you to hurry up now Cause I can't wait much longer I know I got to be right now Cause I can't get much wronger Man I've been waitin' all night now That's how long I've been on ya | from "The Weary Blues" Langston Hughes Droning a drowsy syncopated tune, Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon, I head a Negr play. Down on Lenox Avenue the other night By the pale dull pallor of an old gas liight He did a lazy sway... He did a lazy sway... To the tune o' those Weary Blues. With his ebony hands on each ivory key He made that poor piano moan with melody. O Blues!

Found Poem O what is that sound which so thrills the ear Whence springing leaves and blossoms bright appear There are thoughts that make the strong heart weak The one's most abounding, the other's to seek I am living in the cellars and in every crowded place Loose lips that smile and smile without a face While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs If we must die, let it not be like hogs Beyond their million brittle, bloodshot eyes Unceasing with some word that will not die Every year without knowing it I have passed the day So dawn goes down today, nothing gold can stay
