BC: The End

FC: This Mixbook describes the Symbols, Values, Norms, and Material culture of my family. | My Mixbook

Table Of Contents Symbols: Page 2 Values: Page 4 Norms: Page 6 Material Culture/Technology: Page 8 Extra Information: Page 12

Symbols | One of the symbols in our family is when we say 'fatty' or 'smelly'. When we say those words we are actually talking about our dog Chase. We love her a lot and we really say it more as a joke. My brother Brett started to call her smelly because she smelled really bad one time and she needed a bath. We call her that so much she just started responding to it. This is why we say 'smelly' or fatty' in our conversations a lot.

This book is a symbol that represents my family's love of reading. Everybody in my family loves reading in their free time whether its the bible or an adventure-fantasy book. | This tennis ball and tennis racket are symbols for how much the kids in our family enjoy playing sports. | This road map below is a symbol that represents my families love of traveling. When I am older I would like to do the same thing with my family because doing this creates great memories that will last a very long time.

One of the most important values that my family has is that family, friends, and your obligations (such as jobs or team commitments) always come first.

Values | I choose my friends based on their beliefs as well. I choose the people whose beliefs are similar to mine. The qualities I value most in my friends are a sense of humor, honesty, reliability, kindness, and similar interests as well.

Norms | Every Sunday my family goes to church and visits both of my grandparents later that day. We also visit both grandparents every holiday.

In my house, we have always had animals. Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils, and Dogs (my favorite). Animals are good because we believe they teach kids responsibility. | Every year on Christmas Eve, my family builds a Gingerbread House. It is one of those things that just brings us together. Another tradition we have is an Easter Egg Hunt every year at my Grandparents.

Clothing is a large part of our culture. It is a large part of our culture because it is a norm in society for people to wear clothes in public. | Technology is a large part of our culture because we use it every day.

Material Culture | There are a lot of things in the material culture of my family. A couple of those things are clothes (needed due to acceptable cultural behaviors), food we eat (we try to eat healthier), and less necessary things such as technology. *Chase got a bone for Christmas, i guess thats a kind of food*

The computer is also a large part of my family's culture. We use it a lot to finish our homework and for various other things. | Technology | TV is a large part of my family's culture. We watch it almost every night together.

Overall, technology plays a large role in my family's culture. We could probably do well without the Ipods, TVs, and Computers, but they sure make our lives easier! | Another part of our family's culture is Ipods. Everyone in our family has some version of an Ipod and uses it a lot.

Above is a picture of me playing tennis. In our family, sports are a very important part of our culture. It is so important that it ranks right below school, which is right below family. Everyone in my family is playing or has played a sport sometime in the past. More often than not, the kids in my family are in more that 1 sport at a time. | Additional Information

Above is a picture of Niagra Falls. This represents how much my family loves to travel. We feel that taking time to do things, like travel, as a family, brings us closer together in the long run.

Every year, my family also likes building a snowman together, right after the very first snowfall we all go outside and make it.

Starting this year my Grandmother was going to take her grandchildren on a trip for a graduation present which will make memories that we will cherish forever. | This is a picture of me playing soccer. I guess you could call it a kind of tradition in our family for the kids to play soccer. We all are or have played it at some time.
