Hip- hop was originally a Western Africa music style that came to the United States with the slaves very early on. The Jamaicans started the more modern hip- hop by singing or chanting to a particular beat. | Geographical Origins of Hip-hop

MCing | MCing also know as master of ceremonies is what we now a days call rapping. It started out as a way to support a DJ playing hip- hop music. In the mid-1980s 'Public Enemy' started rapping about the black urban experience which is now popular to hear in rap music.

DJing | DJing is short for disk jockey. A DJ is a person who plays prerecorded music and mixes it with various techniques like scratching, needle drops or beat matching to change the beat or sound made.

Hip- hop Graffiti | During the fifties street gangs used graffiti to mark what areas were 'theirs' or to intimidate other gangs. A different version of graffiti is known as tagging. This is generally just a person writing their name in an artistic way.

Breakdancing | Breakdancing involves dancers pushing their bodies to the limit by contorting themselves into strange positions. One of the more popular moves in breakdancing is the 'moonwalk'. This involves a dancers legs appearing to be walking forward but in reality the dancers body is sliding backwards.
