1: The music of hip hop first originated among the griots of Western Africa. Jamaica was home to a lot of this kind of music, and held dancing known as "blues dancing". This was festive dancing that required American R&B music to be played and danced to. As time passed, MCs became more creative with their chants and this developed what is today known as, hip hop music. | Origins... | "Toasting" was also another style of lyrical chanting that evolved during this time too. Starting in African societies, this was another form of chanting over a beat which involves both a deejay and riddim became popular among Jamaican communities in the 1960s and 1970s. Americans became fond of it as well when DJ Kool Herc brought it to Queens setting off the hip hop era.

2: A DJ, otherwise known as a disc jockey, is the person who plays their pre recorded music for others to listn to and enjoy. They use various techniques to produce a variety of musical sounds such as: audio mixing, slip cueing, phrasing, beat juggling, scratching, beat matching, needles drops, body tricks. DJ Kool Herc was the beginning to deejaying and most rap careers, he gain popularity in 1973 and was known for having the loudest system around. 3: An MC is what we now days call a local rapper. The term MC originated during the 1970s and 1980s and only became more and more popular over time. | This term, to be more specific, can mean one of the two things: Master of Ceremonies, Microphone Controller. This is what eventually led to the start of rap music and culture. Hip Hop was the early transformation to the rap of what we listen to even to this day in history. The mid 1980s, rap music took off and increasingly gained popularity over time. It was the theme that got most people interested. At this time, rap was known to be fairly politicized. | MCing...

4: Breakdancing was a common dancing style during this time that evolved from the music of hip hop. It hit the heights of its popularity between 1970 and 1973 and first appeared in Clubs, Plaza Tunnel, and Puzzle. The most common dance was known as the 6-step breakdance. 5: The start of graffiti can be dated all the way back to during WWII. But it really started to appear after 1969 when it became a sudden way of life. It was the new way people expressed themselves, and was thought of as a style of art. It even got its own term to go by, which was tagging. Tagging became popular first on the walls of New York City buildings in the early 70s. As the graffiti writings developed more and more over time, several fonts were created as well.
