Born on April 15th,1452 in Florence, Italy. In 1466, at the age of fourteen, Leonardo was apprenticed to the artist Andrea di Cione, known as Verrocchio, whose workshop was "one of the finest in Florence". Leonardo was exposed to mathematical training, technical skills, and artistic skills.. By 1472, at the age of twenty, Leonardo qualified as a master in the Guild of St. Luke, a group of artists and doctors. The earliest known work from Leonardo da Vinci is a pen drawing of the Arno Valley. | Childhood and Apprentice Life

The Mona Lisa, also known as the Lisa del Giocondo, is one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s most impressive work, it is a 15th century portrait painted in oil on paper by Leonardo da Vinci during the Renaissance in Florence, Italy. It depicted Lisa del Giocondo, wife of Francesco del Giocondo sitting on a porch in front of a prairie in Forli. | Artist

Leonardo da Vinci was interested in engineering ever since he wanted to defend the humble city of Florence , to make Italy’s community better and have more defense techniques for war, he had to think of not realistic things (for the 15th century) like making a man fly. Not only did he want do make a man fly, he wanted to make more war machines, such as a tank, a helicopter, a flying machine and a enormous crossbow. | Engineer

Helicopter | . One of da Vinci’s greatest designs was the helicopter, it depicted a screw-like thread spiraling around a pole. It would take four strong people to work by pushing 4 poles connected to the large pole, spinning the wings. | Tank | Another is the tank, which would allow up to 3 men to breach enemy bases without a scratch, also, unlike tanks today, it would not shoot anything, it was only used for shielding the men inside.

Flying Machine | Now for the flying machine, Leonardo was interested with flight ever since he saw a flock of pigeons migrating, and how they could fly. So he started studying the bird’s anatomy and comparing to a human’s. He wanted to use it not only to experiment flight, but for using it for war purposes, like soaring over the enemy’s fort walls to get in. | Giant Crossbow | As for the giant crossbow, huge artillery interested Leonardo, and he wanted to experiment more with it, he would not use it against man, mainly against castle walls and archer walls and cannons. Plus he could use it to frighten enemies, would you be scared if a 19 foot arrow was aimed at you? (not correct measurement)
