FC: Slavery in Africa written by Adam Fenner

In Africa, men and women would be out planting their fields when they would be taken with the intent to purchase and sell to different people.

Some African people would invited their countrymen to a feast where they would be treated like kings. They would then turn and sell their guests into slavery.

The captains on these ships were called loose packers or tight packers which meant they packed slaves one on top of each other. They had poor ventilation and poor sanitation and many people became sick and died.

In the days of slavery people between the ages of 18-40 were taken for the slave trade. They would shackle their hands, and feet.
