1: BACKGROUND: Madam C. J. Walker was born December 23, 1867, in Delta, Louisiana. Her original name was Sarah Breed love. She was born into a former-slave family, parents Owen and Minerva Breed love. At the age of fourteens she married Moses McWilliams. They had a daughter named Lelia. After her husbands death she remarried again to a man named John Davis. Sadly he died in 1903, so she remarried again a newspaper writer named Charles Walker, but they divorced in 1912.

2: Fully recognizing her wealth and success she lectured to promote her business which in turn powered other women in business. | Madam C.J. Walker built her way through life by developing a hair product for black women. | Facts:

3: 1908 until 1910, they operated a beauty training school, The Lelia College for Walker Hair Culturists, in Pittsburgh.

5: Madam C.J Walker died May 25, 1919 in Arlington-on-Hudson, New York.
