FC: My Poetry Tyler Thomas

1.) My house (contrast) 2.) Baseball (free verse) 3.) Dragon in my bed (parable) 4.) Ode to Halloween 5.) The Sea (haiku) | Table of Contents

During the day at my house it is loud, very loud. You can hear my brothers, screaming and yelling at the tv like it is a person and will talk back to them. At my house during the night, it is very quiet. Pretty much all you can really hear is the A/C going off and on, but if u walk upstairs you might hear a little snoring, but hey, thats normal

"Take me out to the ball game" The famous song you hear at every baseball game, the American legend. I love to play baseball, it is exciting to play or watch. The feeling of striking somebody out, a great feeling you can only get playing baseball. It is an American tradition. The game of America you can say, we brought this game to reality. And look at it now, MLB a national sport. And it came from us, Americans! | Free Verse

Dragon in my Bed Tired I was, so I went to bed Until I screamed out in fright Under the covers lay a red and yellow thing Curled up in a ball, the size of a ring He snarled at me, and told me his name was Tuttle And he was trying to cuddle I told him that this was my bed And he had no right to say what he said But he ignored me and began to sing instead His singing however, was not so sweet And I told him that I rather eat raw meat Then listen to his terrible beat. I grabbed my earplugs. When his humming began to sound like clinking mugs He yelled at me and told me to let him be I yelled back and said, “Just watch me!” I grabbed him by the tail And he began to wail I flung him onto my floor And he stared at my door He disappeared in a poof of smoke So to celebrate the silence I went and had a coke. | Parable

An Ode to Halloween When you see a child In a costume scary and wild You know it is Halloween. When kids go trick-or-treats And get lots and lots of sweets You know it is Halloween. When the trees give up their yellow leaves And the dead give back their R.I.P.s You know it is Halloween. An Ode to scrumptious snacks An Ode to skeletons that clack An Ode to Dracula An Ode to tarantulas An Ode to Halloween An Ode to the year’s best time An Ode to clocks that chime An Ode to Halloween | Ode
