4: What I Look Like! River Otters are protected by a thick water resistant coat of fur. There body is shaped like a torpedo. There shape helps them swim in the water faster than other animals. They also have webbed feet, so when they swim it also helps them swim faster. They are usually measured to be 3-5 feet long. | 1

6: Where they live! Male River Otters prefer to live in a 50 mile long river. But females prefer to live in a smaller living place. They are usually 7 miles long. That's small, right? You want a high five? | 3

8: How they look help the animal live! When it gets cold in the winter you wear a coat. When it get cold outside, River Otters have their warm coat of fur. That coat helps the River Otter live through the winter. See for yourself in the picture on the side. | The Otter is nice and toasty in it's coat! | 5

10: River Otters are picky about where they live. They live in different bodies of water. They live in lakes, ponds, marshes, rivers, and streams. Where do they sleep? Well they sleep in dens. Dens are underground tunnels. One of them is a tunnel that leads them to the side of their body of water. Another might lead it to a food source. They prefer to stay in places with a cool climate. | Habitat | 7
